ClosedLot 7(4-4UZ7W)BUNDI SCHOOLKRISHNA RIDING A COMPOSITE ELEPHANT Late 17th century, a very attractive miniature painting, depicting Lord Krishna as a mahout with an ankush (elephant goad) in his hand, sitting atop a composite elephant with female dancers and musicians, with the female dancers in various mudras (forms), and elaborately dressed and jewelled musicians playing various instruments. The colours and techniques are typical of the Bundi School (accession and inventory record number on reverse).

ClosedLot 10(4-4UZ7W)KASHMIR SCHOOL OF PAINTING / Yantra Scroll - Brahma, Vishnu & ShivaYANTRA SCROLL FROM KASHMIR, HINDU COSMOLOGY, 20th century, with paintings of the Hindu Trilogy 'Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva', who are depicted seated on a Lotus flower. The painting on the top of the scroll depicts Vishnu as a child in the form of Vatapatra Shayi resting on the leaf with sage Markandeya receiving his darshana (vision). There are also paintings of Shiva, Parvati, Brahma, Ganesha and his consort, along with other celestial beings. Towards the end of the scroll are other members of the Hindu pantheon of gods and celestial beings like Kamadhenu the cow, holding seven Lokas (worlds) on her head, Vasuki (multi-hooded snake associated with churning of the ocean), Munduka (frog), etc. Each section shows a narrator seated on a lotus in a smaller circle on the lower right, perhaps the Brahmin who narrated the scripture for the scroll.

This is a painting with great architectural detail, showing different levels of work involved in the architectural project of building Dwarka city. This painting is of a large size and would date to around 1740 AD, Kangra. It was part of a larger folio of similar paintings depicting the building process of Dwarka city.
