KRISHNA RIDING A COMPOSITE ELEPHANT Late 17th century, a very attractive miniature painting, depicting Lord Krishna as a mahout with an ankush (elephant goad) in his hand, sitting atop a composite elephant with female dancers and musicians, with the female dancers in various mudras (forms), and elaborately dressed and jewelled musicians playing various instruments. The colours and techniques are typical of the Bundi School (accession and inventory record number on reverse).
