A MAGNIFICENT AND STUNNING RUBY AND DIAMOND VANKI (ARM BAND)

TAMIL NADU, c. 1870, an elegant and traditional piece of jewellery worn on the arm, studded with the finest Burmese rubies, flat diamonds and emeralds in the form of a crown with two peacocks on either side, with a pearl finial on top and a pear-shaped ruby suspending in the centre. The open and cut work is joined to the back with a gold link, with screw for unlocking. The rubies weigh 32 carats approximately, the flat diamonds weigh 8 carats approximately and the emeralds weigh 5 carats approximately, set in 22 carat gold, weighing 124 grams.
