A Kazak Rug, Southwest Caucasus, late 19th C. A beautiful Kazak long rug, probably the product of a semi-settled weaving tribe working in a village workshop setting. The brick-red field contains a central column of hooked medallions surrounded by stylized flower heads, in a polychrome square paneled border.
