A very fine Silver covered wooden door with elaborate silver repousse with viewing grill, The front of the door is flanked by two intricately carved and heavily embossed Goddess Lakshmi standing on a floating Lotus with four hands holding Lotus flowers at the bottom of the viewing grills, and at top a pair of Celestial Devdasis holding Flower Garlands on either side of the viewing grill which has a pair of Peacock. The entire frame of the door is engraved and chased with running creeper and flowers. The centre of the door panel has the inscription written in Hindi as “ Shri Adinath Jain Temple Chickpet Bangalore, Samwat 2027 silver weight kilo 14.040 ” The reverse of the door is profusely engraved and at the bottom of the viewing grill are two similar patterns of shield flanked by profuse foliage and flowers.

The naturalist Pierre Sonnerat published in 1782 his “Journey to the Indies Eastern and China”, made since 1774 up to 1781 per Mr. Sonnerat, Paris, Froule etc, 1782, illustrated on eighty boards, drawn by Sonnerat and engraved by Poisson. The engravings are divided into three books.140 engraved plates. A Ceylon, Malacca, the Philippines, & the Maldives. The plates, beautifully engraved by Poisson after drawings by the author, are mostly of birds, flora & fauna, but include customs, religion, sciences and arts.
