WHITE MAKRANA MARBLE MURAL

A VERY LARGE AND DETAILED PATT (Marble Relief Mural) OF “SHARTRUNJAY MAHATIRTH” Chased and Carved out of a pure white Makrana Marble and profusely hand painted and Gold Gilded, depicting the Scared Mountains of Shatrunjay ( Palitana in Gujrath )

This Large Plaque as called Patt chronologically shows the Journey of the pilgrims from the base of the Mountain to the top of the Sanctum Sanatorium One of the most Scared Temples and Pilgrimage centre of the Jains. The Climb to the Shrine is through a long stairways passing through wild forests and animals and various smaller Shrines and resting places.

Such elaborate Patts were placed in many Temples in the plains and big cities across the length and breath of the Country for the conveniences of innumerable devotees who could not afford the long and strenuous journey to make it to the Shrine to perform their prayers for salvation. It is considered very auspicious by every Jain to make a Pilgrimage to Shatrunjay Mahatrith at least once in their life time. And they do so by praying in front of these Patts as though they have personally visited the same.
