Signed portrait of H. H. Yeshwant Rao Holkar, Maharaja of Indore; A very fine tonal albumen and gelatin silver print, originally with the printed title label mount of Devare & Co, Artist & Photographers, Fort, Bombay. This photograph was taken on 9th May 1930 on the occasion of the Investiture of his Highness Maharaja Yeshwant Rao Holkar Bahadur and subsequently presented to the then Prime Minister of Indore Rai Bahadur S.M.Bapna, signed with black pen at lower right 13-5-1934.

With a bead rim and a band of leafy scroll, two curved handles and an elaborate foliate - design girdle, terminating on a spreading foot. The inscription above the emblem has been scratched off the body of the trophy.

PROBABLY AGRA, c. 1910, in the form of a Pandaan, with an octagonal tray inside, with five circular boxes, covered with dome shaped lids, and four minarets on the raised platform, with pierced railings all around the square base.

The latticed top with grapes and leaf border, supported by vine stems on stepped circular base over reversed leaf foliate legs, the top and bottom of the stem also has profuse hangings of grapes with leaves throughout.

A fine first edition of Adventures of an Officer in the service of Runjeet Singh Political Agent in Charge of Relations with Lahore, 1845, 287pp, 262pp, frontis, litho of the Sikh Maharajah of the Punjab, Ranjit Singh to volume 1, and frontis litho of Maharaja Sher Singh to Vol II. A fine set bound in original blindstamped cloth with embossed imprints of Runjeet Singh on horseback on both front boards.

First Edition, by W.G. Osborne, The Court and Camp of Runjeet Sing [sic], with an introductory sketch of the origin and rise of the Sikh state, Henry Colburn, London, 1840, sixteen engravings including Ranjit Singh on horseback, Sher Singh, Akali, Sikh Armour, Fakirs, 236 pp., black 2/4 calf with red leather label gilt, 218 x 145 mm. William Osborne was military secretary to the Governor General, his uncle Lord Auckland. In May 1838 he was sent to Ranjit Singh's court in Lahore to make arrangements for the later British mission there.

A superb deluxe blue embossed and gilt copy of the Annexation of the Punjaub and the Maharajah Duleep Singh, 1882, by Major Evan Bell. Duleep Singh's first major biography which he commissioned the professional agitator Bell to write. The book was a direct attack on the British Government and offended many of the high ranking officials, he later apologised and published the milder account titled Duleep Singh & The Government to bring forth his financial and political case to the British public. The blue embossed copies were issued for personal friends and family, this copy containing a detailed 10-page handwritten letter from Lord Hatherton to Sir John [Login] about the Maharajah's case.
