A Moghan Rug, Southeast Caucasus, late 19th C. A mysterious rug probably from the Caucasian Moghan steppes. An unusual field comprising abstractions of shields, memling guls and stepped lozenges. The border is stunning and rare, broad in scale, the white background depicting what may be a scrolling vine abstraction.
