A pair of fine rosewood parlour sofas, carved and pierced, the openwork back serpentineshaped with a central lobed panel flanked on either end with a higher lobed panel, joined by an openwork trailing vine band to each other and the arms, the panels with stylised tree of life designs, both arms terminating in the head of a beast, its mouth issuing a branch with leaves that scroll along the arm supports, the front seat rail with an intertwining vine border that extends around the back and sides, the front and rear legs scrolling outwards, the knees with layers of leaves and berries, removable upholstered seats resting on cane work.
