An Uzbek or Kyrgyz Julkhyr Rug, early 20th C. A fleecy, soft, high pile Julkhyr (representing bearskin) rug, probably woven by Arab tribes in the Kyrgyz or Uzbek regions of central Asia. Woven in two halves on narrow horizontal looms, and sown together in the middle to make a wide sleeping rug. Classic diamond composition in burgundy and bright gold with running dog borders. 6 ft 6 in by 5 ft 8 in
