Literature
Mazumdar's paintings are distinctive in the slender elongated figures, flowing garments and poetic nature. This particular painting comes out of his series on Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, a Vaishnavite Saint. This body of work is significant in communicating the emotions of the artist. “The saintly character of Chaitanya mingles in his own person the renunciation and joy, sadness and beatitude with which the artist would identify himself. A strain of introspection and withdrawal, of ecstasy and compassion are echoed by these works which are almost a kind of sadhana”- (Excerpt from ‘Kshitindranath Majumdar, Contemporary Indian Art Series’, Jaya Appasamy, Lalit Kala Akademi, pg viii)
Through his lines and colours, Kshitindranath Mazumdar takes us along with him on a journey of eternal devotion.
