Details
Raza's works represent the origins of life and symbols. His Indian canvases and the early French ones were realistic, like the visible world, resembling what most of us see everyday. Later, his involvement with Indian spiritual thought and the 'tantric' inspired symbology was the basis for the 'bindu' series. Subsequently, he entered a 'white period'. His latest works over the past few years show the spirits lunar and solar scape, the eternal round, the spots, the triangles and induce contemplation and serenity.
The above study of a historical monument - 'Char Minar' in Hyderabad, India, is a fine example of Raza extending the academic style of representation.
