Details
The Holkar regime was one of the most prestigious Indian dynasties to rule central India for two centuries (1748 - 1948 AD). Malharao Holkar was the founder of the princely states of Indore and under his able rule he established the dynasty. The Holkars confronted the Mughals and the British powers with great valour to retain the stately province. The Holkar confederacy era lasted from 1761 – 1818 AD. ’Madhya Bharat’ was formed and called ’Indore’ thereafter. In 1948, the Princely States of Indore merged with the Union of India after the Indian independence in 1947.
This document is a legal court document during the reign of Tukojirao Holkar III dating back 100 years or more. The seal denotes the time of the document and the Prince.
