    A Karabagh Long Rug
A Karabagh Long Rug, South Caucasus, late 19th C to early 20th C. A dazzling so called French Karabagh from the Caucasian area adjoining the Kazak area to the east and southeast. This rug was probably woven in a village workshop, possibly for the aesthetic that appealed to the French market.

    A Karabagh Long Rug
A Karabagh Long Rug, South Caucasus, late 19th C. A beautiful, soft wool and floppy handle long kelleh rug from the Karabagh region, the blue ground field is filed with a repeating single flower motif. This motif is again repeated in the outer border, making a rather unique statement about the naive drawing. Two minor borders protect the central field of flowers, one in the eye-tricking trefoil design and the other in the classic scrolling vine composition also seen in South Persian weavings.
